Im using a motorola GP68, with a Elite II bowman headset and a u94 ptt. Pretty good set up for the price. Plus spare batteries and antenna are readily available.

£45 for the radio (including shipping) and about £25-30 for the headset and Ptt. You can get the covert earpiece mics for anywhere between £5 and £15 depending on your budget.

Its not the cheapest you could buy, but if you do buy cheap you will end up replacing/upgrading fairly quickly.

Motorola XTN with cavalry Bowman headset.

The GP68 are good but not really UK legal and can be finicky to set up on 446 channels (I have 3 of them)

GP68s also have a habit of the battery packs only lasting a year or so .

XTNs are usually £60 on ebay , take common batteries (as well as AA cells in an emergency) , they are tough and they are setup specifically for UK PMR446.

Both GP68 and XTN use motorola 2 pin configuration

Our team all have Kenwood Protalks. Absolutely mint. Quite pricey but well worth it. I use a China replica bowmans with mine, found it on you-know-where-bay.
Don't try to run, cos I have 120 little friends, and they can all run faster than you...
