Re: Snipers v AEG
jag i agree with the setting it up right
i do get bored of seeing people get so obsessed with upgrading, most of my guns have never been upgraded internally or with very few modifications and yet ive allways managed to outrange people

A question for the tekkies amongst us, does a longer barrel give better distance and greater accuracy on a sniper weapon? Also can you get rifles barrels so it causes the BB's to spin more effectively ?
Ask about joining the UNIT

Re: Snipers v AEG
Rifling does not work on a spherical projectile in airsoft. There are Tanio Koba barrels with grooves, but that is for the air, not the bb, and it only works for 330 fps or less setups.
In any case, if a rifled barrel did work you would get poor range as the hop unit imparts backspin. A combination of backspin and that imparted by rifling would give some very strange flight paths methinks.

Re: Snipers v AEG
Longer barrels do in the majority of guns make a differnce to the accuracy and range of the BB. However that increase is in most case's hardly measurable. Most AEG's with a barrel length over 250mm will shoot about the same. This is not the case with tighter barrels as these definatly do in almost all case's increase accuracy and give a slight improvment in range. The TK Twist barrels as mentioned above give the BB a smoother ride down the barrel allowing the BB to float on an air cushion rather than bouncing of the side's of the barrel. Many people who swear by these barrels have seen some quite dramatic improvements with them.

I'd be one of those who swear by the TK Twist Barrel:

Re: Snipers v AEG
Well I'm hoping to be a counter-sniper for our airsoft site, where there are plenty of snipers.
Currently have a TM M14 [full length]. I'm thinking of asking G.I. to order me in an EDGI 6.01mm tight bore barrel. I think she's currently firing at 260fps, so making a guess at this barrel putting her up to around 300fps - but I could be wrong there.
Anyway, I'm also thinking about getting one of those Element V Hop rubbers, and combining it with an Element H nub.
Would you think that was a good... route to take with this? The barrel would only be about £55 delivered.
Cheers.

Re: Snipers v AEG
Bud, squeeze 330fps out of your M14 and whack a TK Twist in there. That and the other plans you have for it should make it pretty tasty...

Re: Snipers v AEG
I can recomend those V Hop's There Great! (spoken like tony the tiger) I have the nubs in two guns, it can be difficult to say how much improvement they make. They definatly dont make the hop any worse, If I dont sell my 338 before Xmas I may put the nub's I bought for it in there and see what happens. My M14 had a systema barrel and that made a very noticable defference in the accuracy of that gun, so the 6.01 should be very worthwhile. I'm sure you already know this but for anyone else thinking along those lines, You will have to try out several BB's before you find one the barrel like's I can very Highly recomend the 0.29 Grand Master's If you can get them.
