BFG Traps
24 November, 2011, 00:10
Had a scour on the search function but couldn't find anything on this...
Was wondering if there were any ways to set up a timer based BFG to act as a booby trap.
Cheers

Re: BFG Traps
Several, but they all rely on you finding something heavy enough to hold the spoon down. Often boobytrap objectives with them.

Re: BFG Traps
dynatex used to sell a device called the scaremonger which was essentially a instant detonation blank firing device, much like an 'alarm mine' but with the pyro charge enclosed for safety.
you could always set the bfg up the way you do with a normal frag grenade to make a trap. find a suitable sized tube like an empty tin can, pull the pin on the bfg and carefully insert it into the can so that the lever is secure. then attach ur tripwire to the can , so when the wire is pulled it tugs the can off the lever and therefore releases the lever on the bfg... BOOM
for that to work you need to make sure the bfg wont move as the can is pulled away

Re: BFG Traps
Straighten out a coat hanger ,shape it round the lower half so it catches the spoon . Then twist the ends together as a spike. Done

Re: BFG Traps
that is a 'scaremonster' i think, thats the 12g version. the unit i had was similar but 9mm only and slightly smaller. they are pretty rare
unfortunately mine was stolen at an event many years ago, and that's what u might have to deal with when leaving high value items around as booby traps..
coat hanger idea sounds good also

Re: BFG Traps
I use my impact leant on the inside of doors or attach a spare pin to an objective.
Other team picks it up, dynatec falls, kills galore :-)

Type into google - 12G Trip Mine.
Might suit the job you want it for.

Re: BFG Traps
i was thinking of having the pin almost pulled out of the bfg, the bfg secured so that it doesnt move, and a trip wire attached to the pin, when someone steps on or pulls on the trip wire it pulls the pin out the one mm or so,which releases the spoon.

Re: BFG Traps
3 seconds aprox, those 12g trips take a lot of pull as would setting the pin on a hair trigger .

Re: BFG Traps
Just to save opening another thread, would the impact grenade go off upon hitting a woodland floor?
