M4 gearbox problem " help needed"
27 November, 2011, 17:58
Just taken apart the gearbox on a kwa m4, the bevel gear is missing a tooth and the piston is shred.
Can just these two parts be replaced, are they the same for all m4 aegs as they look it, how do you clean out the gear box, wd40? Not sure, can you recommend a good piston at a good price
Thx

Re: M4 gearbox problem " help needed"
you could fit the shs high speed gears if you wanted too but yeah as above is fine
Just make sure your piston head is not showing any damage and its best to change the whole gearset
Make sure you shim up your gears correctly and get the aoe on the piston correct also removing the 2nd tooth on the new piston might be an idea.

Re: M4 gearbox problem " help needed"
although you could use wd40, its not very kind to the rubber elements of airsoft,so as a rule i steer well clear of it

Re: M4 gearbox problem " help needed"
brake and clutch cleaner spray might do the job but it will go everywhere as its not normally used "at home"

Re: M4 gearbox problem " help needed"
Ok, bought a new gear set and piston for the m4 but the bottom lge gear wheel has a longer pin that sits in the bearing than the original, prob about 2-3 mm longer, it also seemed very tight as it pulled the bearing out when I tried to remove it, should I not use this gear set, I think it's a guarder or ics set.Should I contact kwa and order it direct? Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Re: M4 gearbox problem " help needed"
Just make sure you shim up the gears correctly and you may need to polish up the gear shafts a bit but any v2 gear set should fit.
