How much have you spent on your best guns?
15 October, 2009, 13:22
Heya guys. Tell me, how much have you spent on your best gun and what parts?
I don't really want to say mine because it's a silly price, but it may help some other people decide if they want to pay for the same parts I have.
PLEASE don't let this become a "look how much money I spend on my gun" thread. Use it as a guide to help you decide if it's worth upgrading a gun or not, and also as a show of knowledge so you can consult with other members about how their upgrades performed in their guns and if it was worth the trouble.
My TM PSG-1
Upgrades:
*Full Systema gearbox
*200% Systema power spring
*6.03 MadBull 590mm inner barrel
*Bi-pod
*Custom fitted 10.8v battery
*Rifle wrap
*Sling
Price
: £400 for the gun, £50 for the Systema gearbox (second hand), £15 on the spring, £40 on the barrel, £30 on the bipod (had to import), £15 on the battery, £30 on the rifle wrap, £10 on the sling
Overall:
£590
Was it worth it?:
Yes, it shoots excellently. Get alot of range and kills with it. It shoots at 470 FPS last I checked.
My Desert Eagle
Upgrades
*Guarder metal silver electroplated slide and frame
*Freedom Art red 'night sights'
*Guarder high flow valve (in 1 magazine)
*Hogue rubber grips
*Guarder polycarbonate loading muzzle
*6.04 inner barrel
*Guarder upgraded hammer spring (took the recoil spring out)
Price:
£100 on the gun, £200 on the metal kit (import duties took £30), £20 on the sights, £15 on the flow valve, £30 on the rubber grips (again import duties, I ordered a real Desert Eagle case with it), £15 on the loading muzzle, £25 on the inner barrel, £20 on the springs, £40 for Zero One to do upgrades/repairs on it
Total:
£465, excluding other import duties and the real case
Was it worth it?:
No. The Guarder kit I've had nothing but problems with and the red glow sticks in the sights keep breaking or coming unglued. The hop-up doesn't hold it's setting because of the stupid Guarder kit and the hammer doesn't work unless I load and rack the slide in a specific way. It performs very well when it works, but there are alot of irritating quirks I have to keep working on.
My TM P90
Upgrades:
*M100 spring
*Aimpoint clone sight
*Laylax box magazine
*Large 4400mAh 9.6v battery
*Custom woodland paint job
*Laylax 'Predator' rails
*MadBull 6.03 inner barrel
Price:
£150 on the gun, box magazine, Aimpoint clone sight, M100 spring (fitted), 4 high capacity magazines, a gun bag, the sound suppressor, a standard capacity magazine and a small battery (sick deal I had), £20 on the battery, £25 on the paint job, £30 on the inner barrel, £40 on the rails, £20 on a Stargate style sling
Total:
£285
Was it worth it?:
Damn straight it was! Really cheap for the entire price I paid for it. Shoots at 350 FPS exactly, sick range, 20 rounds per second on a full battery charge, looks great and got everything I could ever need for it. What else could I possibly do to it?
My TM M4 SOPMOD
Upgrades:
*Custom made Eagle6 350 FPS spring
*Prometheus 6.03 363mm inner barrel
*Prometheus air seal nozzle
*Prometheus piston head
*Prometheus cylinder head
*Prometheus spring guide with bearings
*9.6v modified TM SOPMOD M4 battery
*Metal bearings
Price:
£500 on the gun, a battery and standard magazine, £45 on two extra standard capacity magazines, £35 on a spare battery, £50 on all the Prometheus parts except the barrel and piston head, £170 (included fitting and postage by Zero One) for the Prometheus barrel, piston head, modification to my current battery, a spare 8.4v standard battery, metal bearings, £100 on my EOTech 556, £20 on my Specter sling
Total:
£920, excluding my torch, sound suppressor and foregrip
Was it worth it?:
Well I haven't got my gun back yet, Zero One are posting it back to me today. It's shooting at 347 FPS comfortably though. It should be extremely high performance with all the new parts fitted. The recoil, bolt stop and everything still functions exactly as before. Before I sent it off, I loved the gun. When I get it, I think it will be ridiculously good. I think it will be worth it because I've almost fully upgraded it. When a better gearset comes out and a better piston, I'll buy those too, so my SOPMOD should be worth over £1000 when they get released.

Do you not get much chance to use the folding handle I sold you? That fat ole scope seems to steal most of the rail :O

Re: How much have you spent on your best guns?
im really not into internals so this is all i can come up with
im converting to PTWs as its just easier but they dont really count so the best i can think of is my multicam m4, i could include my AICS but im not finished with it yet.. so pretty pointless
this was built totally from the ground up
Hurricane M4 Receiver- £140
King Arms CASV - £120
Systema Gearbox and motor £180
Magpul CTR stock - £70
Magpul MAID grip - £30
MC Tech vert grip - £25
inner and outer barrel – 80
other furniture and hop up - £100
Total – approx £750 .... really this isnt a bad price - when you consider its built from really the best parts available too, it was also pretty much drop in the gearbox and motor into the receiver and hey presto really accurate weapon with good range and good looks (imo)
Worth it? – oh yes, the hurricane receiver is probably the nicest receiver ive ever seen, the magpul furniture is extremely robust and well built and the systema internals gave it phenomenal performance too
Plus it looked like this
|Systema PTW M16 RIS | Systema PTW M4 RIS | Systema PTW MP5 | WE SCAR L GBB | King Arms Sig 556 Holo | Custom M4 CASV Multicam | TM MP7 | KSC Steyr TMP | KSC USP .45 | WA SIG GSR | WA Beretta M9 | Socom Gear Wilson Combat 1911| Remote Pyro |

Re: How much have you spent on your best guns?
My M16 DMR is my fav ATM
Started out as a JG M16A3 £120
Second hand CA M15A4 body £40
Madbull M110 + element HOP + service and labour fees £70 ( I was lazy and paid for it to be done)
Tightbore barrel £30
so £260 all done and WELL worth it as it shoots like a dream.
