Re: A&K Or STAR M249?!
STAR is all plastic, so very light for what it looks like. I've only ever heard bad things about the STAR, lots of problems. The A&K isn't amazing but can be with some work. The A&K is also full metal so nice and weighty. Personally i'd go for the A&K cos I've had one and loved it

Re: A&K Or STAR M249?!
A&K is a fairly hefty beast (6kg) and carrying one around all day can be difficult. However, it's built like a tank, unlike the plastic Star, with it's plastic gearbox that eats itself. A&K needs a bit of work if it's brand new, but if it's already been done, it should be fine.

There're plenty of second hand ones on here, possibly not the para though

Re: A&K Or STAR M249?!
yea had a star one sold it within 1 minute of it arriving at home
when its light enough to hold out in one hand like a pistol you know theres something wrong - holding my phone to my head is more taxing
A&K needs some work but at least its heavy so its a start

Re: A&K Or STAR M249?!
1) This isn't your for sale thread
2) The OP asked for opinions, we gave them!

Re: A&K Or STAR M249?!
I fully tuned a star m249 wild monkey gearbox magnum motor helical gears, 6 awg cable, custom hop up , when it worked it was amazing 70m range and rof at above 35 but it never last more than 5 mins mags are renoned for jaming, Classic army is the way to go. The a&k if set up right can be as good as the ca but it isnt good straight out of the box
