V-Tech Marconi Personal Role Radio Full Set
28 October, 2009, 23:32
A certain global retailer has just put these up on their site.
V-Tech Marconi Personal Role Radio Full Set.
Specifications are as follows.
440 Mhz 16 channels preset.
package includes: Bowman style headset, headbands, wireless PTT and pouch.
Selling at $121.99, less than £100 for full set up.
These look great and would be ideal to finish a UK based squad loadout.

Those are the actual Bowman PRRs aren't they? If so wouldn't they only work with other PRRs?

Re: V-Tech Marconi Personal Role Radio Full Set
At the price i'd say they are copies, as it was Marconi who make the issue ones. These are made by V Tech. I may, however be wrong in this.
Most PRR in the UK are 446 Mhz's, the V tech are 440 Mhz's, so wouldn't be compatable. The advantage of these is that if a full team had them it would mean no irritating bleed over or random chatter from other squads.
Also removes any possible scanning. I play a lot of Milsim games, and having secure comms is a problem. These could be the answer.

well we tried a milsim game
half my team had PMR the other half had clansmen
while its a good idea for privacy... when command tried to pass down an order or some information - it had to be relayed down the clansmans by a second radio operator

As with real life, adding another piece of realism.
Most milsim games i play have a comms role for one team mate, as well as dedicated medic and 1 and 2IC. This is taken further with many of us as some games are ammo specific, with an ammo cap for specific roles.

Re: V-Tech Marconi Personal Role Radio Full Set
yea well we weren't allowed to take ammo with us but could only access it through supply drops - not that i cared as i only had 3x 40 rounds mags
but i digress
i agree it adds to realism but you can allways just use another channel for seperate things like we did
but its worth it to consider there is a disadvantage that you may not have full access to all communications of your side
however the advantage of no eavesdropping
