Newbie from Norfolk!
12 July, 2014, 18:39
Hi guys, well I'm yet to play my first airsoft game! Which may sound odd but I really fancy giving it ago. I shoot clay pigeons with my shotgun regularly and I used to play paintball a lot, so I'm guessing this will right up my street!
What do I need to get started?? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Newbie from Norfolk!
What you need is the right attitude and a disposable income!
Head to a local game site, Gunman Airsoft have a site in Norwich and there is Danger close Airsoft near by as well (I live in Suffolk so can't help much more), they will have rental gear you can use to see if you like it until you can get a defense against the VCRA to purchase your own RIF. A common way (thought not the only way) is to become a member of UKARA (who have a good site for VCRA info).
Welcome to the sport, most players are top blokes, you get the odd plonker but they are rare especially at those 2 sites.
I would also suggest a decent pair of boots (hiking or military, as long as they are comfortable) and some gloves (hand shots can hurt).

Re: Newbie from Norfolk!
Hey dude! The one and only norfolk. where are you based? and these are some the most important terms in the airsoft community...
VCRA- Violent Crimes Reduction Act
UKARA- A Magical number that gives you the eternal bliss of softing... basically allows you black guns (info on mentioned website)
RIF- Realistic Imitation Firearm.
Im in sheringham on the coast, so miles from any site. :/ but its worth the travel!

Re: Newbie from Norfolk!
no probs! the law regarding RIFs is very very confusing and will take you months to understand. but basically, providing your over 18 (which i guess you are
) you can play 3 or more games in less then two months and be part of a club (like the AAA Anglia airsoft club or gunman airsoft) and apply for a UKARA registration, which is a
defence
against the law. but UKARA isnt the only defence. As long as you can prove you play airsoft on a regular basis, youll be fine. but id rent a gun before you go about buying an RIF, plus by getting UKARA your set for the future.

He has a rifle he wants to sell me too, he hasn't given me a price though! I know the pistol has a holster he will chuck in! Is the pistol worth buying do you think???
