KRISS terminate KWA agreement - No More KWA Vector!
18 April, 2013, 17:14
Haha, though it would happen sooner or later. KRISS (Formerly TDI) have revoked their exclusive agreement with KWA to produce licensed replicas. As said below, this means no more GBB Vector guns will be made, and no AEG version which was meant to be made soon. They make clear any unlicensed replicas will be dealt with. KWA aren't doing so well - lost Umarex not long ago and now KRISS. Umarex was tied to guns that made up a lot of their catalog, and without the Vector they better hurry up with some new stuff.
KRISS Arms terminates exclusive Trademark Licensing with KWA
Nyon, Switzerland - 18.04.2013 - KRISS Arms, the Swiss global leader in firearms innovation, announces the termination of its exclusive trademark licensing with KWA. This termination affects all current and future KRISS airsoft projects, including the popular KRISS Vector SMG GBB and upcoming AEG version.
KRISS Arms will also be actively pursuing any infringements of its patents and trademarks worldwide, including unauthorized manufacturing and distribution of KRISS product replicas.
As part of its strong commitment and support to the Milsim and professional training community, KRISS Arms will be seeking for new innovative partners in the airsoft industry to market its current and upcoming airsoft products.

I wonder who they will decide to pair up with next? If you have a KWA Vector, it is now very rare I guess as no more can legally be produced.

For it to be so soon, and KRISS to be looking for someone else, means that KWA must be up to something quite dodgy...

Re: KRISS terminate KWA agreement - No More KWA Vector!
REALLY!?! What about the warrenty etc of the ones who have a year as it was bought from the UK, hopefully that will still mean something.
Thats quite upsetting, but then also made me quite happy, as i have one, and an AEG version would be EVERYWHERE. M4's would be thrown in the bin lol.
Sad for KWA, i really like their stuff too, its really underestimated and looked upon badly
WARNING. Post may contain traces of sarcasm. If you do not understand this, I pity your existence.

Hmm, this is not good news given that KWA are the first airsoft company I've discovered that actually seem to care about communicating with and helping their customers.

How odd, I wonder what caused them to terminate their agreement.
'KRISS Arms will also be actively pursuing any infringements of its patents and trademarks worldwide, including unauthorized manufacturing and distribution of KRISS product replicas.'
This bit reads very much like KWA did something near illegal and KRISS aren't just ending the agreement for financial reasons. Maybe KWA were going to roll out the AEG Vector without authorisation..?

Just do follow the current classified trend, use it, stick a scope on it, call it 'rare/custom' and advertise it for more than a new one costs.

This is on the right track, I think. KWA, being a reputable brand that doesn't make things cheaply, are probably taking (just for argument's sake) 90% of the RRP and paying 10% to Kriss in licensing. It may be that Kriss have been offered 20% of RRP by a licensing company (e.g. Cybergun or Umarex). To give the licensor 20% while still taking a profit the licensing companies either have to raise the RRP or pay less of the RRP to the manufacturer, which means using cheaper manufacturers (e.g. CYMA) who work for less money. That's why Umarex has ditched KWA.
What I think has happened is as KWA strives to provide good customer service (expensive) and have Western offices (very expensive) their overheads have risen, so they have to charge more money to the licensing company to build each gun. The licensing companies have found manufacturers willing to work for less money than KWA, so they're ending their contracts with KWA and starting new ones with the cheaper manufacturers instead.

Besides, KSC will still make it surely, i guess technically theirs is an "unlicensed" replica...

KSC never had any involvement in it did they? Licensed or unlicensed...?
Although that whole subject with KSC and KWA confuses the hell out of me and probably too off topic for this post.

I think kriss have made it clear that they will challenge even unlicensed replicas in that statement and I think they would have a fairly easy job as the gun is so unique.
Will be interesting to see if there is another deal in the pipeline or this is then end of kriss airsoft
