Re: Shoei MG42 Gas Blow Back
There was/is also an Escort and or Asahi M60E3 I believe?
Had to have an external tank for it, but pretty awesome nonetheless.

Re: Shoei MG42 Gas Blow Back
There was also the Top M249 a few years ago that could run on WE M4 mags with seemingly no cool down!
Again, price seems to be the main stumbling block, it's a shame as a box mag is easily big enough for a substantial expansion chamber as well as retaining a hefty ammunition count. If you could carry the damn thing that is.
Airsoft needs more affordable GBB support guns.

Re: Shoei MG42 Gas Blow Back
Pretty sure there was a Shoei MG42 GBB brought out a few years ago that ran on an external tank. Not sure but I think one of the Fallschirmjager guys used to have one in the WW2 circuit- awesome piece of kit.
Then again, I might be wrong. Does happen.

Re: Shoei MG42 Gas Blow Back
The Shoei ones are hand made by a father and son team (maybe just the son now) to the highest standards. I believe Jo and Lenny of Flecktarn had one, complete with rs flashider. As they are built in such low numbers they are hardly likely to devalue much.

They are classic guns, been out for a long time, I recall seeing some shops with them 2005/6?

Re: Shoei MG42 Gas Blow Back
Although the one that "The Dr" has mentioned is probably the HPA classic, I do seem to remember seeing a video from Shoei late last year of a new MG42 release with a far higher rate of fire though.

The last one I saw running was with the Flecktarn guys back in 2003/2004. It was quite picky though

They've been around for years, like rocking horse poop though. One of the lads over in Guernsey had one, lovely bit of kit.

Re: Shoei MG42 Gas Blow Back
Tomio still makes them, though sadly on his own as his father passed away last year. He has a new batch in the offing at the moment, with an improved Escort system that ups the rate of fire from the previously absolutely pathetic 600 odd RPM (at UK power levels) up to 800 or so RPM - which is still way short of the real world MG42's 1200RPM though. The build quality is staggeringly good, though I opted for the Ultima version that used the Shoei external parts with a custom gearbox from Echigoya inside of the Escort system ('cos I wasn't satisfied with the idea of having an MG42 that had a rate of fire more akin to an MP40!)
Anyways a pic of my old Shoei/Echigoya (wish I hadnt sold it now!) on a post war tripod, just 'cos I can :p

Re: Shoei MG42 Gas Blow Back
Great picture
The rof on the Escort system is mostly controlled by a spring, if you replaced the spring for a stronger one you could up the rof to real speeds.

Re: Shoei MG42 Gas Blow Back
It's a balance between the strength of the spring and the air pressure the HPA rig is set to. A stronger spring will only do so much. You can increase the ROF by short stroking it by chopping the spring and fitting a buffer, but the downside is dramatically reduced felt recoil.
Yeah, that was a fun weekend. Glad I didnt have to carry the 20 kg tripod 2 miles to the beach and back though lol
