    Re: MTP Now Legal

Call me a noob, but I usually just buy camos off ebay or amazon, and isn't MTP just the camo our armed forces use? I was unaware it was illegal to purchase...

I just looked through field textiles website, that stuff is said to be actual armed forces issue and it's really cheap... anyone recommend it? I don't know any soldiers I can ask lol.

Are you two serious iix and aria? Might I suggest being a bit adult and doing a bit of research on the Internet and then you will find out. Even use the search function on this forum. Especially you aria. If you don't know, what threads have you been reading since you joined 3 years ago.

              Re: MTP Now Legal

Well this forum's layout is a bit dated and the search function barely works, plus since everyone who knows about this stuff is already "subscribed" to the thread, I figured it's the best place to ask since I'm pretty much brand new to airsoft.

As for doing research outside the forum, the only people who know about these things would be actual armed forces or ex armed forces, and their use case for this stuff is quite a bit more extreme than what we use them for in skirmishing.

              So yeah...

I've never known about the insect repellent, seeming as I've washed my kit 1000+ times I think it may have lost its effect, but saying that, I've never had a diffi shirt, there good pieces of kit, trousers on the other hand, I must of had 5-6 diffies within the past year and a half, it's a real shame!, but I'm gla you guy can buy it legally now,

                  Re: MTP Now Legal

Me neither actually, not so much as a peep about the kit being treated with insect repellent, but in a pack of 30 smelly blokes you tend not to sniff things to find out what's on them.

Having said that I really dislike MTP, well, just multicam in general. The cut of it is fair... same as the 95's?
From what we were told it was rushed into service, desperately needed in Afghanistan, but the general consensus from the field was this was total shit.
Desert DPM was better in the desert and DPM was better in field and woodland. MTP is effective as a universal system but it's still an obvious compromise against a dedicated battle dress. Not that it makes much difference mind, when 90% of the job is moving around like a blue arsed fly.
We managed by carrying a DPM smock and we damn well liked it! Still, it obviously has its own advantages or else we wouldn't be using it. It's here to stay in any case.

At the time of its induction, the infantry needed solutions to front plate problems and had a lack of specialist weapon systems in the FOBs and PBs. Our very own "that looks nice" dress up game probably could have waited.

MTP. Expensive. Now legal. Still fugly

Trousers are always a bit of a hard thing to get right, It's hard to find shirts though so i'll take that recommendation and grab a shirt or 2.

                      Re: MTP Now Legal

I'm really glad I came in here, the PCS smocks suck arse frankly. Who puts fleecy handwarmers in and then doesn't put any sort of closure on them? Nothing but a collection area for rain, snow and crap along with another nice little snagging point for ammo tins/bits on guns etc. The material's also way too thin for the situations where I'd actually wear one (i.e. british winter).

Definitely be picking up a few grade 1 temperate DPM windproofs (without the bloody hood) so I'm covered for the next few years. Might grab a 95 cut MTP smock while I'm at it in case I have to go to one of the cold bits of afghan or back to the falklands again.

Place in ripley Derbyshire are now selling MTP, I had a chat with the owner and it is now Legal to sell. prices are £10-£30 for trousers and shirts depending on wether thay are unissued or used, smocks £30-40 but as low as £10 for minor damaged items some just have buttons missing or a repair on a rip... about time as other brands of mtp are a rip off and considering you don't need brand new shiny gear for airsoft there are some good deals to be had if you don't mind doing a few minor repairs!!!!!

Wiking firstly suggest you read the rules. Second read the thread. We know that. It is the cs95 cut you can buy, not pcs.
