Coleman propane no longer manufactured
16 August, 2011, 09:10
So I was in my local camping shop to pick up some more propane when I noticed they had none. When I asked why the shop keep told me that Coleman were no longer making their propane bottles! I had the same story at a larger outdoors chain... I'm hoping this is just a temporary recall but this stuff is starting to get difficult to find.
Anybody else able to shed some more light?

Bernzomatic Cylinders fit the adaptors, but they are more expensive than the Coleman cylinders.
You can get adaptors to refill the Coleman cylinders from larger 7/15kg Propane bottles on ebay. I have been looking at getting one to refill cylinders for the local site. It would save people about £4 per cylinder, plus you would soon recoup your money for the adaptor.

Re: Coleman propane no longer manufactured
Dont some looking and found nothing but some new places online to buy it from. Also checked out their own website and it doesn't have any information about it and it isn't on their recall notice. I have just emailed their customer service dept to try gain some information about it. I've asked if it true, what would the reasons be and if they have any plans to replace the item within the market place if it is true.
Will update when I get a reply!
Sorry for the double post btw...
Edit: forgot to mention it can take up to 5 days for them to reply :O

Lucky for me I just went and bought ten of the feckers to tide me over.
I think B&Q stuff might still work though...

Re: Coleman propane no longer manufactured
Do Coleman still make the cookers the bottles were intended for?
If they do, it's a fair bet they'll keep providing a fuel source. It's possible they're just changing how that's done.

There are slightly thinner, taller prpane bottles available, that still work with the adapter. Cant remember if it was colemans or someone else though.
It was also stored at a higher pressure

If they were yellow bottles, you might be thinking of MAPP gas?
