Re: Support Weapon Thread
I've seen photos of it done on both MK46 & MK48.
I'm on the fence with it.
If your just doing it for looks, then it's mainly only the U.S army that actually keep the heat shield on the top of a MK48.
Seals and rangers tend to remove the heat shield, and have also seen it with just the standard tri rail fitted to the bottom as per the MK46 mod 2.
But if keeping it as a MK46, then its up to you. As I've said, it has been done but it is rare to see.
But regardless of looks, is it comfortable for you to use like that?

Re: Support Weapon Thread
I actually haven't seen many pictures of a mk46 actually being used like this either, most of the ref pics I found came from FN. Like this:
Perhaps its an obscure conceptual thing? It is surprisingly comfortable though but some of that might be the weight factor, this is a few kilos lighter than my steel built 249 as the forearm on the receiver is aluminium not steel. With rail covers on it looks a lot more natural, this won't be winning any prize pig competitions!
The "gangster grip" from the US PIP kit is a lot more comfortable overall but especially with the added weight:

Re: Support Weapon Thread
Here is my new support weapon, the ASG US Ordnance M60 MK43 MOD 1.
I used it at The Gaol site and absolutely had a blast with it. I believe our very own @Happy was on the receiving end of a few of my bursts :D
Really fun to use, fed flawlessly and I was very surprised to find it nearly matched my TM recoil for range!
Cracking fun for £330

Re: Support Weapon Thread
I've fitted a deac real gas block already and been working on the stock mount to fit the wooden stock, just need to get my mate to make me a male to male thread adaptor to fit the flash hider. When I get the extra money I shall fit a 50rnd metal contact mag.

Re: Support Weapon Thread
I ended up modding/making the mag from a 58 water bottle pouch,
Then after sorting the flash hider I stained and varnished the stock a nice walnut colour, for that MAG58 early brit L7A1 look.

Re: Support Weapon Thread
Don't know what happen to above post, it previewed ok, but here it is again.
Right the L7A1/MAG58 is finished, untl I can find a top cover smile.gif . Mag made from a 58 pattern water bottle pouch, and second picture shows the correct flash hider fitted and stock stained a nice dark walnut colour. I've also painted the S & F on the trigger group white and red respectively.
