got teh delta today so was able to start putting it together its G&P ris is in the post and till need to get the stock sorted

ebay for the cloth mag, as for the hand guards, you might find a Mk1 owner wants to swap if he wants to make his M249 look like a Mk2, or any CA dealer should be able to supply a new set. Not sure if A&K sell theirs separately but might be worth looking into

Thanks. I recall reading somewhere that Uk SF have used them with the Mk2 handguards so might just stick with them for now. What puzzles me is why and how UK MoD bought the para versions with Mk1 handguards... seems odd (or probably just typically tight-fisted!).

I might 'add' some DPM material to the box - see how it looks.

They may have just simply converted some of their stock of MK1s by fitting the shorter barrel and para stock

If you want to do something about the boxmag, you can mod a genuine DPM cloth mag and fit the CA mag inside it.

Also the top cover is railed not plain / smooth with a single site attachment.
