  • Something a little different SA VZ-58

    Here's one for strike back fans;

    The ARES SA VZ-58 compact.

    Full metal construction so it's heft is backed up by a really solid feel, not a hint of wiggle or flex. Even the magazine sits snuggly in place.

    Proprietary 160rd Mid-Cap.

    The button to release the stock is nice and stiff, on the left is the rear sling mount.

    The battery compartment isn't exactly spacious but will take a small 7.4v lipo without too much fuss. Also visible here is the HOP wheel.

    Nice crisp selective that sits out of the way when either in semi or automatic, but since safe is centre it makes it very easy to tell when it's engaged.

    The usually 14mm threaded barrel, only for ARES it's positive rather then negative.

      Getting one of these myself hopefully soon.

      How does it shoot? Range any good?

      Is it completely propitiatory internally?

        It's only been used in CQB but it did shoot really well, the electronic trigger means you get a great trigger response. You do need to be careful on the battery front though, as space for it is tight to say the least.

        Certainly all the externals/body parts are, not sure about the gearbox.

          I've got a pair of these a rifle and a compact and I'm loving them. Like you I'm going all strike back on them and have fitted the mag adaptor but the mags are not a great fit how are you finding the adaptor? I've also managed to get a longer flash hider which add to the over all Strikeback look but is a little loose.

            The EMags pictured fit well, but my Hi-Caps (KA PMag style jobbies) are a little tight the feed fine but i think the adaptor just needs a little 'wearing in'.

            I haven't tried anything on the thread yet ('cause I'm a fussy git when it comes to suppressors).

            I really want an optic mount. They are planning quite a few accessories for judging from ARES's website;

              Re: Something a little different SA VZ-58

              Maybe it's just the mags I'm using then, they seem to be a good fit but the catch isn't very secure a little downward force and they come free without depressing the catch.

              Can't make my mind up about a suppressor yet, wouldn't mind one for both mine.

              The accessories (or most of them) are readily available in Hong kong, but with the exception of the mag adaptor there's no sign of them here yet. Now because I'm inpatient I've been importing mine so should pick up my sight mount today I'll get a pic up later.

                its getting there, so what do you think?
                Im pleased with it but it took some fiddling to get it to fit well

                  Looks awesome.

                  It does make my yearning for an optics mount worse though ...

                    Not the best pic, but here she is 'a la Stonebridge' (well close anyway)

                      Looking good mate, bet there's some weight to it now, mines heavy even without the suppressor and torch.

                          Not finished yet by any means, still need thread adapter (on order) / silencer (already have) / rail mount (need to source) and sight (own but might get another so I dont have to keep taking it off my other weapons)

                            One step closer...

                            Adapter turned up today....here it is with my suppressor (I know Stonebridge doesn't have the KAC style, however, I had this already and I like it on there)

                              Looks good, that mount worked out well.
