Ah, well the gun came with the standard spring guide, nothing unusual there. But I picked up that extended version a long while back for a different gun, then ended up taking it out of said gun and it'd been sat in the parts box ever since. Given that it matches the TM outer barrel pretty well and it adds that extra little dose of pimpin' it just had to go in there.

I prefer wooden grips on 1911s, but I don't discriminate against guns that choose... other orientations.

Is it as easy as just swapping it out? I figured it would be tricky to do.

Just a case of replacing the recoil plug, pulling it down over the majority of the guide rod, feeding the end into the slide (this just sounds like 13 Shades of Colt :P) and releasing the tension gently to rest in place.

As matt says above really, takes all of 2 minutes. You can generally do it without tools as well.

It is a part that you need to remove during the field strip at the end of the day so it has to be quick and simple to take in and out.

Something im working on. Started life as a tm meu now has a hurricane tactical entry 2 kit on it.




This is the 3rd hurricane kit i've worked on and it's so far been the only one to not need dremmeled to death. Everything (minus the ambi safety) was a drop in fit with just a hell of alot of racking the slide needed.
