mine will fire a 40mm nade with the warhead attached. you just unscrew the little cap on the front and bingo.

Indeed. TS Welshy's one fires 40mm nades. Or rather his paintball moscart. We had a fun afternoon padding nerf rockets with paper to make them sit in the paintball mossie. 40m downrange and a lovely puff of shredded paper. Fantastic.

what you should do is attach barrels to a 40mm nade then house that in the rocket with the barrels slighly emerging out around the tip.

edit bad idea ...Filling ,but you could mount barrels in the rocket with the 40mm being removable
