Edit: How do you guys get your images to show so large?
If you have it on an image hosting website (including facebook), you can image link using ""
I know on firefox, if you right click over an image, you can "Copy Image Location"
Hope it helps dude

Re: Weathered Or Worn Look Guns
The M16 looks mint Ronin. Although With the flash hider it has shouldn't the correct term be XM16E1 not M16A1?? Is it a Classic Army?? Do you not have the light looking, almost silver 20rnd Mags to go with this as they would look better bud.
Like the whole uniform/bush sett-up as well
Richie.

Re: Weathered Or Worn Look Guns
Thanks Richie
I though about classing it as an XM16E1 but I've got too much fencing on the lower receiver. So I guess its a hybrid haha. I've not got the silvery mags
The rifle is a JG M16A1 btw from taiwanguns.

Just finished weathering my MP40 in the same manner as the XM16E1

Re: Weathered Or Worn Look Guns
Your absolutely right Ronin, the Xm16E1 only has the partial fence, although I have seen lots of M16's with the full fence and Three Pronged FH like!!
Really like the MP40 as well. How did you achieve the effect mate??
I'm after a VN type FH like yours, if you hear of someone selling one please let me know.
Richie.

Re: Weathered Or Worn Look Guns
I had the opposite problem. Took me ages to find a decent birdcage to replace the three-prong.
I went for the pre-melted "found in a surplus store" approach to furniture for my build:

Re: Weathered Or Worn Look Guns
It looks "real Steel" the furniture on the M16 there mate, is that true?? I have real on mine, but I got a handguard in a little better nick really. I had no bother getting a spare birdcage from a shop in China (Can't remember name).
Do you still have the VN style three pronged version to sell??
Richie.

Re: Weathered Or Worn Look Guns
Yeah it's a real handguard, pistol grip and stock. I had issues getting a birdcage with a decent finish on it. G&P do nice ones but it's a chore to get them in CW.
As for the three-pronged ones, I gave them to my brother for his retro builds.

Re: Weathered Or Worn Look Guns
Oh that's a shame mate, I really want one of those FH's myself. If you come across one giz a shout please. Like I mentioned earlier, I have full real steel furniture on one of my Marushins. Real mags and sling. I've also just acquired a real bayonet as well. They make the replica look and feel the part no end mate.
A few pickies for you!

Re: Weathered Or Worn Look Guns
I'll keep my ears open for you buddy.
The MP40 was sandblasted and sanded with wire wool, and then coated in Birchwood Casey Aluminium Black. It was then taken down again with wire wool to the required effect and sprayed with WD40. It gives the metal that dull grey colour to it. The Birchwood Casey is a chemical and so actually reacts with the metal. I done the same on the M16
