WE Hi-Capa 7"/7.1" Dragon
16 July, 2014, 20:47
Bought a Hi-Capa dragon over a year ago, so its been pretty well tested. Chrono'd at ~320 fps on Predator gas with .25.
This thing a beast of a pistol. Heavy, big, terrifying. If you're into big pistols, this is for you.
Fibre-optic front iron sight - Standard iron sights, nothing note-worthy.
Undermounted RIS rail - This is what holds the whole front end together, more on it later.
Half-slide - Means the gas doesn't have to push the whole slide around. This reduces wear, and gas consumption.
Double hammer action - The pistol will fire even if half cocked.
Full metal slide and frame - Well, the slide and frame is metal.
Double safety - The trigger action is not engages unless the pressure panel in the back of the grip is used.
Working safety catch - Functional ambidextrous safety catch.
I mentioned earlier that I use .25g BB's. This is because with the hop on factory settings, .20's will go forward normally and then curve upwards after about 15 meters. .25's have a stable flight path, and I didn't want to adjust the hop all the time. Speaking of which...
To get to the hop up, you will need two allen keys and a crosshead screwdriver. You need to remove the whole front end before taking out the slide catch as you normally would on a pistol.
CONS
The front end comes loose after a game, so you'll end up busting out a toolkit to tighten the various screws. A solution to this is to use superglue to seal the screws, but this does prevent you from doing any internal maintenance, hop adjustment, etc.
I think it's standard with all WE pistols, but the paint starts to wear quickly.
The slide catch also jumps in when it's not wanted. So far, only happens when it's manually cocked, hasn't stopped halfway through a magazine.
All-in-all, I think it's a good pistol. Looks good, shoots good. People are usually impressed by it. Another extremely minor drawback - finding a holster. A Desert Eagle, adjustable drop-leg is what I'm using and it works well.

Another thing to point out, there's an allen key under the hammer. This changes gas efficiency but doesn't affect FPS (so I have not got a clue what use it has). If you tighten it all they way, you'll get about 20 rounds out before the magazine is out of gas. I don't know what happens if you take it out, but I didn't want to find out. I've got mine on a decent balance and now gets through my 50 round extended mag with no problems.
