Tanaka Colt 45 Single Action Army Cavalry HeavyWeight, Detachable cylinder review
20 July, 2009, 13:31
So After that long winded title
This is indeed a very sought after pistol
The Tanaka Works 45 Single Action Army
Comes in 3 Flavours
Civilian 4 3/4 inch barrel
Artillery 5 1/2 inch Barrel
Cavalry 7 1/2 inch barrel
Comes in several different colours, midnight gold, nickel and black
My version is the Cavarly and black
It features the improved pegasus gas system
Detachable Cylinder
And its Heavy
When i opened the rather nice box my eyes widened and my mouth dropped, i have NEVER seen an airsoft gun so..beautiful, its a mix of metal and plastic but feels all metal except for the nice grips.
Ok so onto ratings
Looks:
This as above is beautiful no other gun if you are a true gun lover will make you happier, its clean, its meaty and its just..i cant even explain how nice it is.
Score:10/10
System:
The whole way the gun works is simple yet really effective, this thing on green gas which was on fumes pretty much ripped through 2 sides of a box with .20 bb, it uses the improved pegasus gas delivery system meaning more gas, less consumption, no leaks, perfect.
BB's go into the front of the cylinder holding 6 rounds of course and then rather cleverly the extractor rod acts as an extra 6 round magazine, when your out of bullets, you pull down the rod over a empty cylinder head and stick a fresh bb in, giving you 12 rounds in total, not a lot but i love it.
Score: 9/10 - negative side is the ammo of course.
Performance:
So on green gas that had only fumes left, it made a loud crack and pop, bb flew and ripped through two sides of a wide box, i think thats said enough, but really on a nice warm day green gas should be doing around 350, ultra 320, hfc 300 on .2, gas consumption well i have really experienced it, on fumes it ran for 20 shots i mean my green bottle was empty i couldnt hear anything inside.
Score 10/10
Skirmishable?
Yea id say so! its powerful, meaty, yea theres an ammo issue but choose your shots and it will be worth it, also if you want and can source them, buy extra cylinders and use them like magazines.
Overall minisnipa score
10/10

Indeed beautiful pistols.
I cant actually say enough
no pistol or airsoft weapon has made me happier.
What do you want in your revolver?
My SAA has 12 rounds 6 in cylinder 6 extra in tube, i love to reload so i love it!
Its stupidly powerful
I can for see the range being further than a aeg
I will never get rid of this pistol its mine for ever

Looks killer in that vid!!
Ahh spinning.... can't stop doing that with my TM Python, it's gotta to a point where i'm annoying everyone by doing it every 5 minutes... haha
Tried it with the M500..... but epic fail haha

Oh brutal haha
I suggest practising over a bed/pillows, wouldn't think the sound of your SAA hitting the deck would be a nice one!!

Re: Tanaka Colt 45 Single Action Army Cavalry HeavyWeight, Detachable cylinder review
haha sure
the SAA is beautiful but i think i would prefer a more modern revolver, something that wouldn't look out of place in a more modern load out
however revolvery goodness will have to wait as currently i do not have an AEG

Fair enough i mean if you want a skirmishable revolver it depends on what your doing
a M500 for woodland
and a TM python will be fine for small cqb areas

Got it in one!
Although there would be nothing more threatening seeing a M500 compensator appear from round a corner in CQB....
.....Sunday's gonna be fun heh! Not taking any automags, revolvers all the way!

the python would be interesting to get - i think the m500 is a little large for my liking

Pythons are cool, the M500 is more "scare the crap out of everyone" gun haha.
I'll actually do a review of both of them at some point!
