Great review, and fantastic videos. Perfect comparison to the GHK, as mosts people are going to measure it against that.
Like many others I am torn between them, getting at least 2 full mags out of 1 charge of GG makes a big difference for me, so I'm a little disappointed in the TM performance. The system
seems
like it should be more efficient. I'm thinking it may be safer to go with the GHK (and the low power bolt), rather than removing parts from mags. Not sure yet.
Any updates on reliability/performance?
I just got back from a very cold and wet Senny Bridge weekend event, to which I used the MWS exclusively. Wow.
This thing really does rock, all my magazines had the green gas modification and the system did not skip a beat. Cold days and colder nights it kept up.
I only saw two occasions on the night where cool down was beginning to take hold, however by that time the next shot or two would finish the magazine and the action would lock back anyway. To be honest I was expecting a little bit more cool down, especially during the day when visability was better and I was dumping mags continuously from our FOB. It was almost like I had HPA tapped mags, it's so snappy.
The ZET system worked a treat, nothing to really report upon that. Other than my confidence in it. Never failing to lock the bolt on empty. I was dreading the possibility that at night the bbs would drop short due to the colder temps and would render my zero on the IR laser useless. Fortunately it didn't, the hop remained consistent to where I had zeroed the laser. So I could continue shooting this delightful piece of kit well into the night.
A mere toy gun (well they all are ;-) but...) in the presence of a GHK but I love the thing.

Sounds fantastic. Did you not get similar performance with your GHK though?
Even if they are on par with each other it'd be a good result if you ask me.

The performance is somewhat similar, GHK cyclic rate being a little slower. However plenty of upgrade options available. In the same weather the I found a stock GHK a little sluggish when using green gas, not so much that it negatively effected the overall game experience, only personally I'd like a fast shooter without having to go through the expense of using other gases such as C02. There was a time when I used Guarder Black gas in the GHK with really impressive results, it reminded me a lot of the Inokatsu Sopmod I used to own. WOW!
Unfortunately it's a bit too much for me to have separate fuel just for one weapon system.
Have a blast with both if you can and see what works for you more, YT videos can only show you so much ;-)

Here is my latest video covering the green gas mod for the MWS magazines.
Enjoy!

Re: Tokyo Marui M4A1 MWS GBBR Review + VS GHK M4 Video
Great info Bada Bing. I've just taken receipt of one of these bad boys this week. I have to say that I'm impressed with the build quality and how solid it feels: no shakes or rattles! I have a Dytac 10.5" milspec barrel and Angrygun SF can on the way for a cqbr build (even though I have just been informed that they are now releasing a cqbr variant! Hindsight!).
I am like you when it comes to the performance aspect that TM provides: I'd rather have a gun that I can hit someone with the majority of the time than have one which feels "realistic" but can't hit anything with!

They're lovely aren't they.
Yeah I'm totally down with the mentality that TM have on the MWS. The action, while feeling very toy like, it's so smooth and as you say it's very much in the performance.
Having said that I've recently picked up another GHK M4, this time a mod 1 and it's much better than I remember. So much so that the line between the two systems have blurred slightly in my eyes.
I digress but I'm glad I've been of some help and also glad you've chosen the MWS!

Re: Tokyo Marui M4A1 MWS GBBR Review + VS GHK M4 Video
Have you got any experience with the AngryGun heavy recoil kit? That might be worth an add should people feel the need for "moar reelizum". However, at over £40 for this, it would have to be weighed up against the cost of the GHK. Still, the fact that the option is available in the first place is good.
Further to my last comment, it may have come across that only TM provides stellar performance, which isn't exactly true despite what fan-boys may say (I myself a bit of a TM groupie). I just like the fact that you can usually take them out of the box and play with them: no downgrades/npas/hop-rubbers etc needed in order for it to spit BBs out reliably.
Anyway, I'll feedback on this thread with my thoughts if that's ok? I suppose you've probably covered all bases but it's good to have as much experience with the product as possible in one resource
Might have to give the credit card a bit of a spanking tomorrow...

When you say it's not as realistic? Why is that?

I meant people may be discouraged from the TM because it doesn't recoil as hard as the GHK and they may be of the opinion that recoil = realism (if that makes sense?).

Re: Tokyo Marui M4A1 MWS GBBR Review + VS GHK M4 Video
I havent had experience with it no, although I've heard a couple of folks on the MWS FB group that use it. Yeah there is a lot of new and exciting upgrades available for the system. I quite like the idea of the UAC lightweight bolt carrier, the rifle already performs quite well on green gas in the cold. That could be the must have upgrade for further winter proofing.
Yeah but of course, if you have any further feedback or insights feel free to throw them up.
I'd love to get a seperate upper receiver for my 20 inch M16A4 setup, since going back to the standard M4A1 config I kinda miss old pointy.

Re: Tokyo Marui M4A1 MWS GBBR Review + VS GHK M4 Video
How do you think the TM compares to PTS/Mega MKM?
Mine is somewhat upgraded, so much so that it shoots 450+ with .20s so I was giving serious consideration to getting an NPAS and playing with it.
But the TM really looks like it is a viable contender on the field right out of the box (after that mag mod) where I wonder if I might damage my rather gucci MKM if I was to take it out there.
So, NPAS or would I just be better off getting the TM?

I have zero experience with the PTS MKM so I cannot compare. If you're already set up with magazines and like the way it shoots then sure install an npas.
Im assuming NPAS or lower fps nozzles are available?

Re: Tokyo Marui M4A1 MWS GBBR Review + VS GHK M4 Video
Dytac 10.5" milspec barrel ordered. I'm looking at an MFT Minimalist stock but I've seen conflicting reports of the stock tube compatibility: I thought it was a civvy spec tube but I've seen someone on the MWS Facebook group has fitted a milspec one to his...
