Re: ARES DSR-1 (Version 2) Review.

Yea the Ares sniper doesn't have upgrade parts!
The DSR and the M200 have a very similar system withe difference the M200 has a very short stroke bolt pull!

I'm planning to convert the M82 from AEG to HPA using the PolarStar's GB. I hope it will resolve the consistency/power/accuracy issues!

I very nearly managed to slot an AK74 gas blowback system into my M82. The only issue was the hop alignment.

Re: ARES DSR-1 (Version 2) Review.

APS is going to release a CO2 "hard" blowback version of the M82... I've read somewhere that 30% of the used gas per shot will be used to propel the bb and the other 70% will push back the bolt !!!!
But I don't like blowback on sniper rifles or DMRs ... to many moving parts for accuracy and reliability.

Re: ARES DSR-1 (Version 2) Review.

I'm also going to buy one ... after I finish some pistol projects!
I'll post here my impressions and maybe I'll make a comparison test between DSR,M200,M82,M700 AICS, WA2000 and RS SVD.
But i don't think the DSR will be better than the M200.. they seem to have the exact same system! And the have the same problems!
But to tell you the truth nothing from the above can't beat in terms of accuracy the Asahi WA2000!! The only con of the Wa2000 is that I'm afraid to skirmish with it!I've done it only a couple of times but the lack of spare parts and the price tag makes me not to take it out again.

I agree with you both barrett and m200 have the same length ~1.50m ... It's very long but they both look great and intimidating!

                Cheers

Re: ARES DSR-1 (Version 2) Review.

the dsr looks solid im just worried about that bipod it looks easily broken / flimsy / cheap to be honest.

any ideas for bottom rail? im thinking, red laser, torch or maybe a cheap harris bipod so i dont scratch the gun when leaning it against a rock or such ( look at TKOS picture for what i mean )

been having a look on the ares website and at the instruction manual and it says only 134a gas?
this true or will it be safe on green, red and propane ?

There are co2 mags available for it. So i'd assume propane and red gas are fine. But red gas will put you far beyond 500 fps

oh yeh it was an open question as they said 134a only.. but on the standard mag other gases ok ?

It's "safe" to use green gas...!
At least on my CheyTac I'm using green and red gas!! I've never used 134a!!

I know lot's of people who use green gas. But it'll probably invalidate your warranty. But new o-rings don't cost a fortune anyways
