Anyway, yeah that's a great idea, I could even have a spotter fitted with some comms and say an AKS-74U in front of me designating targets, able to retreat to the rear if necessary. I'll plant the 12G mine to the right of me which is going to be the vulnerable side. Cheer.s

Re: sniping tactics
Not sure if I've posted before but just incase:
Rifle: Ares DSR-1
Sights: 3.5-10x50 Green/Red Illuminated Scope
Ammo: 0.40g
Backup: Socom Gear Desert Warrior
Mags: 2 for DSR, 3 for Desert Warrior
Kit: DPM Trousers, Olive Long Sleeve Shirt, Ghillie Suit, Shoulder Holster, Double Pistol Mag Pouch
No addtional kit. No need to be excessive with backups due to the fact that I can play from the rear of the advancing line. I prefer to take a good position and wait for them to come to me :D

Re: sniping tactics
Just gunna throw in another tuppence.
when im skirmishing at UW tonbridge there is a logging operation or something going on nearby so i find it to be absaloutley fantastic as a sniper =D
This is because when ive dug my self in to a really nice spot the chainsaws are loud enough to completley eliminate any sound of my sniper (There is little but hey :P )
Now my most recent use of this was during a ambush being layed down me and my partner where to lay down fire to stop the enemy retreating backwards out of the ambush area (We are behind the enemy at this point) so there are AEG's firing out ahead of use whilst there is also chainsaws behind (this sounds like gears of war?) a sniper is truley silent but deadly as there are pellets flying out over 90 meteres away and in heavy camo you are invisible.
Hope this helps you when your out in the feild.

Re: sniping tactics
Apart from the extreme example of chainsaws and industrial equipment above, does anyone else find themselves only moving during gusts of wind, or only when the enemy is firing in a different direction? Might sound crazy, but when I'm quite close but with time to spare, I'll often wait in an awkward position just for some sustained distracting noise to come along. I can only assume it works, as I don't often get caught before getting a shot off. Yet the last game I played, it was clear as day when someone was using the same tunnel I often use, to attack the base I was defending.
I don't use a ghillie suit by the way.

How can you not!, they look so cool...
Lady Astor (first woman MP in the House of Commons): "Mr Churchill, if you were my husband, I'd put poison in your tea."
Winston (getting unsteadily to his feet): "Madam, if I were your husband ... I'd drink it."
