Tactical training for teams
10 May, 2010, 20:55
Hello,
My name is David Taylor, i spent 2 years in the RGJ and 7Rifles as an infantryman. I am also writing a masters in military history. I specialise in infantry tactics and have a good knowledge not only of British but also of American and other nations infantry tactics. I have created a common sense blend of simple but effective tactics which i would like to test as part of my thesis. If there are any teams out there who would like some instruction, and who would be willing to test and comment on the effectivness of tactics please feel free to contact me.
Kind Regards,
Dave

Snipers and smaller teams. Only use force when you know you will win.

Hi david, Seen your post, two years as an infantry soldier, i know however hard it may be , or was. What sort of training you offering. Specialist skills etc. most guys can getb the sldiers handbook on the bay etc and get specific tactics from that.

2 years you say? S.N.L.R?
Seriously, airsoft is a bit of fun, dare I say a sport? does it need lessons in military tactics

Some people do take it more seriously.
I think profesional traning is also good fun and useful/interesting to know.
Being part of an airsoft team we do mil sim and weekend events round the counrty and have often spoke about doing training days to make our team wok a lot better and more natural.
Just because you might not find it interesting doesnt mean others wont.

Re: Tactical training for teams
correct fella, some people almost believe they are in the forces when they hit the field.
Regardless, my comment is missing the key point now, due to an edit, so let me reiterate, taking more care not to come accross as inflamatory.
My point was that the same, if not more can be learned from reading a book, or surfing the net, than from an ex soldier with 2 years military experiance, and a partial university course education.

Re: Tactical training for teams
Hey,
I have had alot of questions from people, some not particularily nice for some reason. Basically the idea is that i will train a team for any environment ect of your choice. I take my knowledge as a soldier, and as a military historian and researched to combine several methodologies. There is no catch, if you want some one to train you shout at you as if you were muck then find some x-sas bloke. Im looking to train teams, have some fun and have a laugh whilst doing it. After all it is only airsoft.

Airsoft is all about fun, I can see where your coming from, But Military tactics are hard to put accross on an airsoft field. whether your ex sas or ex infantry guys just arent soldiers , as the man above said "when they get on the field" airsofters NOT ALL like to act out as a soldier but they aint, the military is either for you or not. tactics like doing room clearing doesnt quite work either you have so many people play differently High caps, Box mags etc loads of pyro. The tactics from military cant work. they can be tweaked but trying to teach these tactics you are going to have to take things right back to the basics.
A Fireteam , the purpose of a fireteam simple things like markmanship principals. These things are the basis of learning basic tactics, Im not trying to burst your bubble bud, honestly not , but it would be a hard one to pull off. You would be better spending your time researching ex services who play airsoft, you will probs learn more , how they adapt to there changing environments etc, once its in there it never leaves.
When at woirk although im trained slightly different to when i was a soldier the fundamentals are still there and use my advanced military techniques to work alongside my work and actually use some things i learned softing. If you really want to do it and waste your time crack on, think going in opposite direction is the way forward. PM me if you want to discuss further,.

Re: Tactical training for teams
but Airsoft is also about learning. by replicating a correct military style it is easier to learn and you have fun with mates too. this is great for perhaps history students or people with an interest. and i think we are missing the point, he is offering to help some teams/ people out not get into a debate over Tactical Training, plus how can you gain more experience if you arnt given the chance to try, and hen improve?
i, for one, would most probably be interested in this. it is almost the same as people going to cadets or to do tactical training with the armoury of the dog-like creature. just, this is a more personal approach.
thats what i have taken from this. just my bit guys.
