Re: Very high rps... What's the point?
I made my M4 high rof because i wanted a challenge, its something ive never seen anyone skirmish with so wanted to be the first in the sites i play at... And it made people run away from me when i had it as a backup to my sniper rifle = perfect in my mind.
Made people laughwhen i fired it at about 40/50 rps :P
Stripped one piston when first building it but lived for over 15K rounds before i took it apart to turn it into a DMR project.

Re: Very high rps... What's the point?
I think a high rof keeps people suppressed better of-course it forces you to change mags faster too. I dont think any high rof rig should be over 330 - 350 fps and you should not lace people up, but if you want to keep heads down they work really well.
Also high rof is great for when people try to run and dodge rounds.
I`ve had a few people almost dodge a 180rd moscart I always call them back and explain exactly what was shot at them as so they must have got hit. 90% of people take it when you explain what happened.
A high rof does mean that people are also more likely to take their hits and also a real m4 empty`s a 30rd mag in what 2 seconds max ? So if your using a 300rd high cap its nice if on full auto you have close to 2 or 3 seconds of shooting just like a real m4
Of course I love the trigger response of a really really fast gun on semi, but also I`m becoming a really big fan of the kick and noise gbbr`s make now too.
High rof has its uses but like anything it should not be abused.

Re: Very high rps... What's the point?
In the end it comes down to this: If you don't like it don't use it. As long as it's not against the rules then deal with it. There are advantages to it, like a high FPS setup. Both require added maintenance and achieve different goals.

Re: Very high rps... What's the point?
I have seen people freak out when being suppressed by lots of full auto fire they were not hit but just went a bit nuts, I always know that if I want someone to stop doing what they are doing as long as what they are doing is with in the rules I just call hit.
I`ve had a bb bounce and hit me in the nuts and it would have happen`d again so I called hit, same with someone who`s being suppressed shoot back or if you want no part of it call hit, same with nades if one lands near you then shout hit if the only belongs to the enemy.
I hate smoke nades inside they almost give me an asthma attack and my asthma is very mild I`ve had a chest infection from sitting in a smoky hallway for hours before now so if I need to get out of a smoky room I just call "dead man" and walk out.
Same go`s for anything if what's about to happen is beyond fun to you then call "dead man" simple. I do agree that giving someone more then 10 rounds regardless of your rof is over kill but sometimes if they dont call hit or put a hand up you have no idea if they are taking the hits or not I guess.

True about the hit bit. I normally just lie flat and get a cigarette on the go when im in such a situation that im just getting suppressed.

Im more than happy to delve into my gearbox but not every five mins...lol
And if you don't use the gun at all it will last even longer!
I cant tell you how many pistons I have replaced in new stock guns with only a high or two cap through them. Yes fast guns wear out parts in a shorter period of time for a given number of rounds fired. But that is a rubbish excuse to not use one.
I have some fast guns some standard ones and some single action, they all have there place and they are all within the site limits that I play at.
So the point of guns with a high rate of fire is that some people like them and some don't so perhaps there is no point to them.

I see there benefit as far as trigger response goes, having a round leave the barrel before you have fully depressed the trigger must be great for getting that shot on target before the target even hears the whine of the motor.
But you know what..... all ive heard is how the high ROF lovers giggle to themselves as they let rip on someone hiding in a bush, i think ive seen one maybe two people in the time ive been commenting on this thread comment about "trigger response" the rest are adamantly trying to defend high ROF setups, and that says to me thats what you guys want it for more than anything else, to lace people with as many BBs as possible in the shortest possible time

That logic was like: F1 cars wear out parts faster than my Ford Escort. Therefore no one should drive F1 cars...

In all fairness, as far as the wear and tear of YOUR gun goes its nobody elses buisness but your own is it?
If your setup rips apart a piston or cracks a gearbox every game and your happy replacing it then thats up to you and you alone, i must admit that.

Kind of blows the slipstream theroy out of the water. The only reason it works on cars its they aren't shaped like spheres lol.
High ROF - spray and pray IMO. Its far more rewarding to sneak about and get a couple of one shot kills. Again IMO

Its airsoft mate its all spray and prey once you get some range the target can dodge a round if he see`s it coming and close up well theres a chance even a fly could divert your bb.
One shot kills are fun mind.

The topic is "whats the point of a high ROF"
If you were making your point by saying that it improves trigger response and gives you a better understanding of what your gun is capable of before it destoys itself then fair enough, but your not, the point of it for yourself is to smile as you "place a small line of BBs on someone" so you obviously take pleasure in possibly hurting that person with the 30-40 BBs you send their way, ive even seen comments with people taking pleasure out of putting the fear of god into people with their high ROF guns.
High ROF guns may be enjoyable for the guys on the end of them, but please spare a thought for the guy at the end of your "line of BBs"

Re: Very high rps... What's the point?
I`ve been at the end of a few line of them bb`s its funny most of the time if the guy don`t go too crazy.
The high rof is great for trigger response as I said but also for shooting at people in cover and large groups of people and fast moving targets also when shooting into windows from range as wind always takes some of the bb`s off course.
I can see why some people hate high rof guns just like some people hate moscarts or shotguns too, but I think its all part of the sport and if there was an ammo limit I`d just use semi.
Ive used a gun shooting atleast 40rps in a game and come back after 20mins with still half a full high cap, so I can`t be one of the "bad" ones lol

agreed, however on open days i rarely see this sort of manoeuvre unless a team is involved... i often call people up for excessive full auto, and they say they are suppressing... for what? your on your own? you think your shadow is going to run up there and do something? lol
TM 226r, SYSTEMA PTW, Custom built m4, DE shotty, what else would a man need ?
