  • Law Enforcement Game types. NOT SWAT.

Just wanted to float an idea past you guys, and gauge reactions really!

Was thinking of an event Id like to run, but its only an idea in my head at the minute. Something along the lines of a law enforcement day.

Here would be the kit rules:

    Good guys:
Pistols only, semi auto only. No shotguns, no Smgs, no full auto pistols.
smart casual clothes (shirt and trousers, Jeans are okay. Civvies may be okay if some wanted to do an LAPD style loadout. Badge must be clearly on show though! No SWAT loadouts)
1 piece of pyro each/per small team. BFg, Mk5, or smoke

    Bad guys:
pistols, machine pistols, shotguns. No tactical guns (guns covered in sights, lasers, torches etc), no assault rifles, no full size Smgs, no pyro
Full auto is allowed, but only carrying 80 rounds maximum
Civvie clothes (the more gangbangerish the better! Bandannas, shades, plenty of bling!)

    The style of play:
This wouldnt be in the style of get in and kill them all. Teamwork and planning would have to be a very key part of this game day. Aim of the games are arrests, and general police rules of engagement. ore points are awarded to arrests than kills, and unlawful kills (in the rules of this game, not real life, I dont fancy doing all the trial/hearing crap) result in pentalties!

A typical game play walkthrough to explain the rules:
8 cops, 8 Suspects. They are holed up in a building, and the cops are to come in and arrest them. there will be 2 entrances to the building, and the 8 man teams will be split up to take the building down.

If a cop comes across a Suspect, he cannot open fire at will. He must first yell at the suspect to surrender. there are no knife kills, and there is no surprise takedowns to the floor (as much as Id love this, safety first!). This rule applies for every suspect, individually. You cannot lawfully engage one suspect, then blast his friend in the next room down the corridor. He must be challenged as well. If he is firing on you as well, then obviously you can eliminate him.

If the suspect does want to surrender, he is perfectly free to do so. He can of course, lie, and choose to surrender while trying to draw the police in to blast them. If a suspect does this an officer is fully entitled to shoot him/her.

If a suspect chooses not to surrender, a cop can shoot them once they pose a life endangering threat. A suspect shouldering a shotgun or raising and aiming a pistol would be a good example. Shots are allowed to be fired by suspects, so if its easier for the cops to take cover and wait until the firing is over before shooting back, or even getting them to surrender whilst reloading, then thats fine as well!

    Arrests
Obviously everyone has come for a fun day out, not an actual arrest situation. If a suspect does choose to surrender, they must comply with the actual arrest. No struggling or making it hard for the cuffs to be put on just to make things difficult. The only resistance you can offer is to shoot back, or trick an officer then shoot them. An arrest would be made by either having the suspect lay down face down on the floor, or against the wall. (no slamming people to the floor or against a wall, let them do the work!) Plastic cuffs or old school metal/plastic ones will be in use, and once they are on, you have to escort them out of the building/scene. No one will spend half the game lying down with a cop sitting on you, dont worry.

    Pyro
Only bang pyros are allowed, no pea greneades, or anything that resembles fragmentation grenades! Smokes are allowed. Smokes, act as tear gas, or just plain smoke (might try and have 2 colours available on the day) smoke has no effect on gameplay, apart from making it hard to see. The tear gas however has 2 rule options.

Rule option 1 is that anyone in the room is unable to move from theyre spot whilst its in the room. They can still fire.
Rule Option 2 is that they must leave the room that the smoke is filing to stay in play. They can stay in the room, but must surrender, and cannot trick cops this way.

Bangs such as BFGs and Mk5's will act as flash bangs, rather than killing grenades. Once a BFG has gone off in the room, you must put one hand over your ear. If you can see it go off, you must put one hand over one eye. You can still fire like this, or you can surrender. As with tear gas, you cannot trick a cop after surrendering via flash bangs.

Respawns will not be in play. This would probably be tried the first few games, and see how it goes. Obviously people holed up in a building tend to rack up a lot of kills, so if the rules dont help out with that situation, then respawns for the cops would come into effect from the next games.

This sounds pretty awesome :D Id be well up for it.

Only thing I might suggest is allowing the good guys to have shotguns or semi only assault rifles with ammo limits, as its not entirely unheard of for regular patrol cars to be carrying these in the boot. Just to add a bit of variety/teamwork weapons wise.

Sounds very good, nice and complicated to add a few different directions espcially with the covering body parts bit I like that alot.

Thanks I wanted to keep this event away from mainstay rifles though. Assault rifles are definately out. Depending on how people found it once I might allow shotguns the next time. Could be 1 shotgun per 4 people

Thanks, the idea was to disable an attacker somewhat, while still keeping them in game. it means they have to shoot with just 1 hand, which is already a disadvantage, whilst also walking round rather awkwardly!

          Sounds like a good idea.

How about the Brazilian police version though:

Both sides use heavy weapons in enclosed spaces and nobody cares about civilian casualties. If anyone is injured and captured, two to the back of the head and move on!

I love the idea. I love the idea of pistols only for cops even more. Maybe a bit of Hawaii Five 0 re-enacting. Seriously would love this type of game. Hell I can even see a white linen suit guy turning up as Crockett from Miami Vice. Sounds like it would be a lot of fun.

love the idea, in fact am building a police rig at the moment, though I echo the shotgun comment as the us federal rig I am working on is shotgun as standard issue.

Thanks cool breeze. Miami Vice is exactly the kid o thing this game caters to. Personally I would be goof as Gibbs

Shotguns could be allowed. Personally I'd have them limited. The aim of the game is to have some very skilled play going on, rather than rattling shots off all day long. My fear is people just pumping hundreds of rounds with shotguns and the whole thing becomes a regular skirmish but with no assault rifles.

No shotguns. Let's have the Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Miami Vice (the series), Hawaii Five 0... you see where I'm going with this, type of game. Maybe one or two designated shotgun cops as not every cop would have a shotgun.

Re: Law Enforcement Game types. NOT SWAT.

or take one out out of the ameicans books ( i think it was). were you have a lot (depending on the turn out on the day) of "civillians "/ protestors, a group of spec op or policemen. that have to hold back the line .they have a handful of spec ops guys/ police men in normal clothing. they have to hunt down specific people amongst the group of civillians. if they fail to find the people they are tasked to find in time the out standing suspects or the ones that have not been serched set of a smoke grenade

or if it was a BIG urban site then that would have to be a VCP senario
were you have to serch cars proply and the people in the car if you fail you either get "blown up" or get "shot "

i know its not evryones cup of tea ( or coffe) but if some one in my area did that kind of game i would be the first one to put my name down

Or a "Middle East" police game.

Most of the players stand in a crowd with placards demanding free and fair elections.

The marshals are dressed as camera crews.

The other players have to shoot as many protesters as possible, while not being seen by the marshals.
