First Time Charge

I know ive been around here a while and all but!! i keep hearing the " you must trickle charge your battery for its first charge!! "
is this true ?
just bought a load of new batts and i dont want to under or over charge them, i have read Jagillinghams guide but doesnt contain a first charge tutorial ?
any help ?
btw its a 8.4 1500 mAh VP battery

As a rule, slow charge is best for any battery. Charge at the slowest rate you can to be ready in time.
New batteries can need cycling, ie fully charge, discharge and recharge again. It's worth doing, it won't harm them at worst.
