Ares L85a2 workshop
10 April, 2012, 09:21
Ok, so i've bought my Ares L85a2, I've filed down the front iron sight hole, and fitted a Real steel RIS, (Which appears to be a better fit than on a RS L85).
My ACOG/Riser Combo is on.
Now...for some internal work.
Ok, so I've ordered myself a tightbore, so that will be fitted by the weekend. Was wondering if anyone has bothered with any other upgrades? As it seems rock solid already...
One thing I did wonder about is the wiring, as with most AEG's the wiring is quite thin, I use 16awg on my Diemaco, has anyone done this?
Running a 7.4v 800mAh Lipo in the RIS.
I will be at the NAE 27th-30th August and replies to messages may be slow, bear with me!

I rewired mine with 16awg silicone wire.
It really is the limit of thickness you can use with the Ares, very snug fit.
But gives a noticeable increase in ROF.

Re: Ares L85a2 workshop
Replacing the inner barrel, is there an easy way to do this? as I had to remove the gearbox before and the hop unit appears to be attached to the front of the gearbox

Nope! That's the only thing 'bad' about the ARES but, once it's done...
I used the stock hop rubber I think or maybe a CA one.
