firefly hop up rubber question
23 April, 2012, 15:07
Hi guys,
I am going to be buying a new firefly hop up rubber and firefly flat nub for my G&G M14 EBR to go with my prommy barrel. The gun is meant to be 410 fps according to the person i bought it off here. Would the firefly soft be suitbale for this FPS or would i need to go to the hard version? I have not had the gun chroned yet so it is not exact although it could even go up with the prommy barrel being put in. Also would a firefly hard effect the performance because the FPS is lower than most gun using the hard rubber?
What do you guys think would be best hard or soft bearing in mind the soft would cost a lot to replace each time it wears out although i dont airsoft very frequently?
Cheers

Re: firefly hop up rubber question
I would go for the hard. I have a soft in a 348 fps AEG and it cant put enough hop for my liking on a .2 bb. The fps will increase slightly as the fins seem to put less backspin (and cause less friction) than the usual hop rubber bulge. In theory a hard rubber should add more friction with the hop dialed higher and should be a little better.

If you fancy experimenting then the new A+ studio 70 degree rubber might be worth a try the firefly has become increasingly rare I can't think of any hk/uk site that has them in stock.

Deep Fire Hop Rubbers are clones of the Firefly rubbers if you can't find any.

what do you mean by "fins" and also you cant get enough hop on 0.2gs and a firefly at 348fps?

I believe so, but I am happy to accept that I may be wrong if someone can verify?

Re: firefly hop up rubber question
The two finned rubbers are usually falcon, crasstoe has posted a pic of the W-HOLD bucking. OP, imagine a normal rubber, thats had slices put in the mound all along it, thats more like a firefly. I dont rate them to be honest but i dont think they are all like that.

Re: firefly hop up rubber question
ok so if i bought a firefly hard with the firefly flat nub would they work well together? Also would this not be very similar to the flat hop up nub mod a lot of people are doing?

That ribber and nub are designed to be used together.

Re: firefly hop up rubber question
The flat hop mod involves shaving the internal mound off the rubber so you have a flat hop effect area.
