m4 hop problem
23 February, 2009, 21:59
Hi guys n gals
Just replaced the hop up on my spr and now when i fire the gun the first bb through jams about 1mm into the barrel. Taken it out and retried a few times now and its still the same problem, Iv'e tried different combinations of hop rubbers and buckings and still no joy.
If anyone has got any ideas or advice it will be much appreciated
Cheers

Re: m4 hop problem
When you say it jams 1mm into the barrel, do you mean within the hop rubber, or beyond that?
If it's in the rubber, the rubber may be twisting or buckling as you put it over the barrel, forcing a larger area though the hop aperture. Also, the bucking may be too big.
If it's in the barrel itself, try rolling a BB down the barrel without the hop unit on. If it jams, you've buggered up your barrel or got a bad batch of BBs.

Re: m4 hop problem
Yeah sorry, its into the rubber
Had a couple of different buckings in there and exactly the same result. Definately not the bbs though. The bb gets stuck quite firmly and theres only a soft rubber type around the barrel so i'm stumped

Does it happen if you take the bucking out?

Re: m4 hop problem
Good thinking! Thats the plan for tomorrow then, been taking everything apart and putting it all back in again should have broken it down in stages really. Thanks for that matey!
Hopefully that should rule out the bucking or not!

Yeah, I learned that one the hard way. Bought a used S-system and when it arrived it didn't work. Tried everything only to find one of the leads had loosened off the motor!

Re: m4 hop problem
The day I stop pissing around with them is either:
a - the day after I die.
b - the day after I give the sport up.
c - the day after I win the lottery and can get somebody else to fix them!

Re: m4 hop problem
Problem solved!!
Was the new hop rubber stopping the bbs, not sure how as using the same soft rubber in the old unit worked but in the new unit it was too tight??
Used a hop rubber from a g36 as a bit of a bodge and it works fine (for now)
Thanks for peoples help,
dont think i'll stop messing around just yet, unless any of the above happens aswell!!!!!
Cheers guys
