drop in FPs, but shooting the same
27 May, 2012, 19:38
hello,
wondering if anyone can help!
Previoulsy the FPS of my masada was 330FPS
I have semi-recentely done the Magpul masada hop up trick, whihc has improved the performance of the hop
My gun still seems to be firing the same distance, and aaccuracey, but has dropped to 250FPS...
I can buy a guarder SP90, whihc I usually use in my guns to get it to run to 330 FPS
but just wondering why this might of changed the FPS, though the performance seems no less....
The barrel is v clean, so it not that....
cheers guys

Re: drop in FPs, but shooting the same
Is your hop bucking still in good shape ?
check it and check your air seal between hop bucking and nozzle
I find a bit of silicone grease can let you know if there`s a small gap as your fps will go up a lot for a shot or 2
I`d also check all my air seal parts if I was you just to make sure there are not any leaks.

Check your hop adjustment it may just be up real high you`ll get good range but your bb`s will draw a rainbow lol

nope, as stated before, there is no drop in performance... BB's flying straight....
Are you saying take it apart, clean and re grease it all?

I`m saying check your getting a good seal on the hop bucking and if that`s ok check your piston head and cylinder head.

Re: drop in FPs, but shooting the same
A larger contact patch on the hop rubber can drop fps considerably. My R93 dropped 60 fps when I fitted a new rubber, perfect airseal, just the rubber had a bigger contact patch.
It could be you have a great airseal, and the only issue is the increased grip on the hop is killing the speed of the bb, meaning a larger spring must be used. I would go for an SP100 or SP110 and fit, then cut the spring down to size to get the fps you are after.

Re: drop in FPs, but shooting the same
I find an shs m110 spring or an element m115 spring get me 330`ish on super shot barrel m4`s so yeah try a bigger spring like the fine chap above said.
or try a modify hop up bucking I find the double seal ring can get an extra 30fps over a normal hop bucking but depends what bucking your running.

Re: drop in FPs, but shooting the same
ah ha!!
cool, so it may be as simply as that, ill go to the next game, get it re chronoed as I just messed witht he hop... see what it is firing, then change the spring if I have to... though on the masada I can move the spring guide therefore make the FPS increase
