ICS injection port issues. My gun is falling apart!
26 July, 2012, 10:44
Seriously I think my gun is falling apart. Everytime I sort one bit another big breaks.
The hop unit is now catching on the Inside part of the charging handle.
When I finally get the hop unit and barrel to slide down to where they are supposed to go then the ejection port catches on the upper gearbox when I pull the handle back.
I don't know if I'm explaining this right. So all assembled, I pull the handle back to adjust the hop and the cover gets caught on the upper gearbox. It's like it's bent or out of position.
Is it meant to sit in a guide?
I know what i said because i was standing here when i said it.

is it an m4?, also is it the ejection port dust cover you are talking about? to be honest they are all a pain in the A*se. They should sit tight to upper receiver and theres a small black part that sticks out the bottom that slides along the upper receiver.
As I say I just remove the covers personally.

I managed to bend it so its sits correctly now but they are not very well built. its such thin metal.

Maybe your being a little heavy handed. Remember that RIF's are essentially toys, they are not built as solid as the real thing so you may have to be a little more careful with it from now on.

You just need to be careful not to bend it too much as you've discovered.
On an ICS M4 the fake bolt is attached to the charging handle, so it normally takes a bit of wiggling to get the hop unit and gearbox passed it.
I'd say leave it on since the ICS ejection port cover never stays closed (it would be open in real life when firing anyway) and removing it leaves you looking at a hole with the hop and cylinder visible.
