  • how to remove the mag catch of last gen classic army armalite m15??

ive been tasked with downgrading and armalite m15a3 (one of the very last generation before they went bye bye)

I cant for the life of me figure out how to remove the magazine catch, instead of the usual small screw type, it appears the button is actually screwed on to the shaft which is threaded.. but as both parts a recessed into the body, neither can be turned.

ive tried pushing the button all the way in and twisting the latch part, but it wont allow me to d more than a turn as the rest of the receiver gets in the way

    You're on the right track.

I'd suggest a screwdriver or drift for pushing in as hard as you are physically able on the mag release button, then you should be able to tilt the locking section on the other side to enable you to fully rotate it.

as above. you'll feel a bit of a numpty when you see how easy it is

when you do it back up be careful as the threads are quite weak.
