Aa l85 a1 how to take the guide rod out

Hi apologies if this had been raised but I searched and can't find anything on it I prob got the wrong piece but basically I just fitted a dd rail to my a1 and I want to remove the rod and the end piece connected to the front site so I can fit a battery in that small space!

I've taken the rod out but can't take the piece out which connects to the front sight, any help will be greatly appreciated

i take it you mean the gas plug,cylinder and gas return rod. well firstly if you have got the rod out, then the cylinder should then just slide off, then u will need to get a hammer and punch to remove the roll pin on the outside of the gas plug then it should just slide backwards out of the front sight housing
