DIY battery packs?
2 March, 2009, 21:55
I was looking round Lidl the other day and saw they were selling rechargeable batteries cheaply.
That got me thinking, if I bought a battery box from maplin for a couple of quid, added some 1.2v batteries from Lidl at 2.99 a pack and bought a home battery charger, would this work? If I really wanted to, they had 4000mah D cells for 2.99 for 2, so 4000mah 9.6v for less than £40 including a charger!
The only downside I can see is that I'd have to use a battery pouch (or sling), but the upside is that not only would I be able to use cheap to buy cells, I'd also be able to use a charger that would discharge, charge and top-up all for about £20-30. When the cells are knackered, just but a few new ones and chuck them in. If I bought D cells, I could use them in my maglite when not playing!

Re: DIY battery packs?
The discharge rate on the Lidl cells wouldn't be nearly enough. If it did work, it would be poo in comparison to a specific airsoft pack.
