If I use full auto nothing happens, felt like the wiring was getting hot.

No noise, no movement etc?
Hot is not good, I'd stop doing that!
So works fine on semi, shoots etc. Move to auto and not a bean, not even one shot?
Where is it getting hot?

Think it might be something wrong with the trigger contacts being exposed when the selector plate is on auto.
Could be a selector plate problem.

Gaffa is thinking along same lines as me really. That or maybe the cut off leaver grinding on the gears?
First stop is to disassemble and reassemble I'd say.

Dissasemble and check the selector plate contact is not touching the gearbox case when you move it to auto, i had this issue on a certain RIF. If thats the problem you'll have to find a way of stopping the metal touching
