  • People's experiences with the various lubricants / greases for AEGs

Hi guys, I am in the process of rebuilding a G&G GR16 gearbox after installing new parts and am wondering what grease / lubricant would be best for the gears and other moving parts (piston, air nozzle etc.). I have also read multiple suggestions saying that you need to use metal to metal greases on the gears etc. and for the piston head's rubber o-rings and other non-metal parts silicone grease / oil needs to be used.

What are your suggestions based on your experience? I have abbey silicone gun oil 35 (the spray can version) and a can of 3-in-1 professional white lithium grease (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg, for bike bearings etc.). Can I make use of these that I already own to save me having to buy more stuff?

    Thanks in advance,
    David

I have several greases for different jobs!
For the piston oring and the cylinder head, air nozzle and tappet plate i use Silicone grease.
For the gears i use high heat lithium grease
For the Barrel and general cleaning i use silicon spray (the dry version on the one with PTFE)

I use silicon oil for the o-ring and cylinder and nozzle.
Silicon grease for the tappet plate.
My own special mix of active8 and guarder teflon grease for the gears.

I personally use high tack silicone grease for the gears - is this the best thing? Research has led to suggest that for gear wear it may potentially not be best, but I prefer knowing that my orings/hop rubber wont be eaten by lithium grease should contamination occur.

Is froglube o-ring/rubber safe? If so I may have to get some!
