I'm thinking STAR? Or A&K?

I was gonna say, if it's A&K it would probably be the horrible hop up unit. But to be honest I've never heard of a STAR SAW that didn't have problems.

Sanme, and I would also go for airsel issues. Chrono it, if it's low check the entire airseal, from piston right through to hopup.

i was wondering if someone could help.
my a&k m249 started misfeeding badly earlier today

Re: grrrrr, m249 problem.
Try it wiyth a regular M16/M4 mag, that you know is feeding, to ascertain whether the gun or mag is at fault. Then we can help you more.
