mag catch button wtf :S

hey all,

fellow friend is trying to remove his mag catch button an a CA M4 but can't see how to do so, all video tutorials say to remove it using an allen key (unscrew) but its not got a screw it just looks like someones place a plastic bolt through it...

any ideas how to take it apart?

Check the inside of the magwell, the screw might be on the inside.

on a number of my old m4 mag release clips you had to unscrew the thumb button ie the whole thing not a small screw in the end.

i found the best way to loosen this i found was to push the button very hard to compress the spring inside then turn the catch on the other side of the reciver if it moves there is a chance its threaded into the button.

hope that all makes sense

thanks lothario its taken apart but it seems the other side of hte release switch mechanism is now holding it in place

i think thats held by a pin but not got a small enoug hallen key, any other tips?

Get a smaller allen key, or the tip of a flat screwdriver.
