Hop up question...
24 March, 2009, 16:36
I just bought a JG AUG 3G and the gun overall is lovely, however the hop up is pretty crap. I'm looking to replace it with the TM AUG Hop up, but i can find how to remove the inner barrell and hop unit from the outer barrell??
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Elitesniper.

Re: Hop up question...
Fairly simple. Although I can't remember specifics, I know you have to twist the bit on the very end. The black piece of plastic about 4mm wide. Rotate it through 90 anti clockwise. Then the rest should be obvious... Hope that helps.

Re: Hop up question...
Assuming that the take down procedures are the same as the TM version,
Start by field stripping the gun, push the button in and separate the two parts of the receiver.

Remove the outer barrel from the front receiver

At the chamber end of the barrel there are two screws holding the chamber in place one either side, note that the chamber is sprung against the front of the mechbox, so when the second screw is removed the chamber and barrel will spring out.

Inner Barrel
When you have the chamber/inner barrel separated from the outer barrel you can begin removing the chamber. Take the pin pictured out, it may require more force at first but it will budge.

With the pin removed you can lift out the hop arm and spacer (nub)

Next stage, remove the inner barrel clip, this clip secures and keeps the inner barrel aligned in the chamber, so be careful with this.

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y14...gchamber11.jpg
Now that the clip has been removed you can begin to slide the inner barrel out of the chamber, if you intend on keeping/using the existing hop bucking be very careful when pulling the inner barrel out, its likely to be a little difficult at first, so try to slide it out slowly.

Slide the hop bucking off of the barrel, again sometimes these have been fitted dry and can be a pain to remove carefully, so take extra care.

Also take note of the brass collar, do not loose this as it keeps the chamber properly aligned to the inner barrel.

During re installation, check that you have fitted the hop bucking correctly, the groove in the inner barrel is a guide for the bucking.

And remember that the brass collar slides on after you have fitted the barrel clip.
