Lipo getting hot help!!!
3 September, 2013, 14:44
Hi all,
So recently I've purchased a 7.4v 1300 mah 25c lipo battery. I've never used lipo before but have read all the guides about charging. Today I plugged it into my g&g t418 and it felt really hot after only about 50 rounds through it. Is this normal?

Re: Lipo getting hot help!!!
i have never felt a lipo get "really hot" unless they are shorted out somewhere, ( check your wiring with a multimeter)
i have felt them get "slightly warm"
in heavy use.

Will do mate, cheers for the advice
I reckon it could be the battery though, the wiring looks pretty solid and in good condition.

Re: Lipo getting hot help!!!
What brand of battery and how old is it? I'm just moving to Lipo's so might be useful info in case it is related to the brand maybe?

Re: Lipo getting hot help!!!
all depends on what 'really hot' means?
can you hold it? is it burning your hand?
and 50 rounds how? semi or full auto?

Re: Lipo getting hot help!!!
Lol, no it hasn't swelled which is why I was wondering why it was so hot!
It was hot to the touch, not burning but pretty noticeable. It was from full auto fire that it got hot. I've recently tried it several more times after fiddling with my wiring and it has been fine everytime since, so I guess there was a loose connection. Thanks all for the advice

Re: Lipo getting hot help!!!
Either that or the battery was just discharging at full tilt - mine do it on my M4 (high torque motor/mosfet, the current minimum is dictated by the battery I have in it)
