General Wear and Tear?
19 December, 2013, 22:37
Had an SRC G36C for over three years and it has never been opened up!
It still functions fine but doesn't sound quite as snappy! Is it the motor? gears? which is beginning to give up the ghost?

Re: General Wear and Tear?
Yeah was thinking a good clean might be in order! Will any parts be starting to wear out significantly yet?

Re: General Wear and Tear?
With luck no though i can imagine there may be wear to the piston teeth and I'd imagine it would need new grease for the cylinder, piston and gears.
As said above, you'll want to open up the gearbox, clean out all the old grease, check the gears and piston for worn teeth and replace if necessary. Re-shim the box if it hasnt been done before and then regrease the sucker.

Re: General Wear and Tear?
An often overlooked point, have you been using the same batteries for all that time? Batteries die! I've opened up 10 years old TMs that looked like new.

Re: General Wear and Tear?
Opened it up today and was met with a shed load of grease! Needless to say it was cleaned up! I then cleaned the trigger contacts ( thanks sigee ) which made a small albeit noticable difference to trigger response and rate of fire. Also sounds better as well.
Thanks for all the help!
