Awful range on AK and hop up doesnt seem to do much

I got a second hand dboys tactical AK the other day, and the range seems to be awful. The hop up doesn't seem to be working at all. The gun is only shooting about 18 yards.

I originally thought the hop up unit was screwed so I decided to buy a new hop up unit, bucking and tight bore barrel. However this hasn't made any difference.

Has anyone got any advice on how to fix this?

I'm thinking about taking it down to the shop to fix it which will cost £20, and I'm not sure if they'll be able to fix it.

I know this is a second hand dboys but it still shouldn't be this bad.

Have you been able to get a chrono near it? Could hop it till the cows come home but if its firing at 100fps...

310fps.

I found part of the problem. The hop up nub was not in correctly. It is now in with a new bucking and madbull barrel. The first 2 shots fire perfect but after that no BBS feed and they just sit above the mag, when I pull the mag out they all fall out. It seems the hop unit doesnt sit still. How can I fix this?

from memory the standard dboys hop is different from the "standard" TM style AK hop, i can only remember about having loads of issues trying to get a prowin hop to fit in a Dboys body.
I would check that the hop you have in your gun is a Dboys one.

did a quick googling and it jogged my aging memory, there is a spacer thats needed.

Yes I do have one of these! I put it away in my draw because I had no clue what it did :P
