High torque or high speed
10 March, 2014, 13:40
Hey techy people
I've recently rebuilt my M14 to an M21 and will locked it off to semi auto.
I was wondering at what would be better to install for a snappier trigger response because as I see it a high speed will spin faster but will be slowed more by a stronger spring and vice versa for the high torque.

Re: High torque or high speed
High torque if running stronger springs mate .a Lonex Titan a2 is a high torque motor that also has a fair turn of speed . ( similar speed to a g&p m120 on weaker springs )

Torque. Speeds go faster but take longer to get there.

Re: High torque or high speed
Torque. Always. Better in probably 80% of builds or so. The Torque may have a slower Max RPM, but it will spool up to its maximum RPM much faster, and given you will be firing one round at a time, the Torque will be better, otherwise you'd never get the high speed motor up to its maximum RPM.
Torques also tend to draw less current than speed motors, which is nice

Re: High torque or high speed
torque is always best for these builds
i use an shs high torque in my m4 and it's great, can pull a new shs m120 easily with an 8.4, but i recommend higher voltage for these motors for best performance
shs high torque is a good way to go and for only £30-35 on most sites you can't go wrong, also has extremely strong magnets (i've had lots of weird stuff stick to the pistol grip of my gun because of those magnets lol)

Re: High torque or high speed
What about for a full auto only LMG? Still worth going for a high torque?

Re: High torque or high speed
If you want trigger response , yes !
The shs motors are good , but for a good balance between torque and speed the a2 is one of the best nowadays .

Re: High torque or high speed
For a tenner or so difference I would easily recommend the Titan A2 over the SHS. The SHS I had previously used to get very hot and it wasn't as battery efficient as the A2 I currently use.

Re: High torque or high speed
I can't find any A2 Titan high torque motors in the UK. I can only find high speed in stock. I suppose if Zero One don't stock them they don't exist though

Re: High torque or high speed
Some retailers / suppliers use the full name . Lonex Titan a2 , some just use the a2 description they are the same product .

Re: High torque or high speed
I've been looking for a long A2 for a fair while, nowhere in the UK seems to have that specific version in stock.

Re: High torque or high speed
I didn't think of acceleration, cheers guys
but in motors it is the current that correlates to the flux density induced by the magnets so while yes I will more than likely be putting an 11.1 lipo in I'm going to be looking more towards the burst rating of the battery
