Ares m4 questions

Hi
I have an Ares M4A1, it's one if the quick change spring ones. I wanted a new hand guard and stick for it, are all Airsoft m4 sticks and handguards generally interchangeable?
I've seen quite a few 7" hand guards, are the likely to fit ok?

Also I replaced the stock plastic air nozzle in the gearbox (it cracked) with a metal one and now I seem to be having feed issues, it regularly mis feeds and only fires 1 in every 3-4 rounds. Any suggestions where I may have gone wrong?
