to my knowledge its a v3 gearbox so should take the v3 ascu?

Yes King Arms FAL is a v3 gear box. I know nothing about the ascu, but i do know the gear box is a bloody tight fit so depending on how that unit connects to the gear box etc it may not fit. But only guessing.

It just replaces the trigger mech

Yer I started to have a look into them, looks intresting, I found the fitting instructions online. It should be ok from what I could see and read.
