Version 3 Gearbox
26 February, 2015, 17:21
He guys, pretty sure on this one but thought I would throw it out there....
Will a TM Version 3 Gearbox from a G36 fit into a LCT AK74 and vice-versa without any major hassel/modification?
Thanks
Flang

Re: Version 3 Gearbox
You will need to use a different cut off lever since the AK selector plate moves in the opposite direction.
Also IIRC the side of the TM G36 shell is not threaded for the AK fire selector screw, so you may need a threading tool.
Other obvious changes will be Airseal Nozzle and Cylinder head. Its also worth nothing that the G36c box comes with a 3/4 port cylinder, so you will want to swap this out for a non ported cylinder for best muzzle energy efficiency with the AK's longer inner barrel.
Parts to swap from G36c to AK;
* Air seal nozzle
* Cylinder head
* Cut off lever
* Selector Plate
* Fire selector Assembly
* Trigger
* Motor Cage
Not so essential, but advised.
* Non ported Cylinder.
Just be aware that Marui piston heads are not ported, so if you swap the main cylinder over to a non port, you will need to check that the LCT nozzle has an irregular exhaust hole so that air can still be drawn into the cylinder on the back stroke, if it doesn't then you can simply port the existing marui piston head and or use a Marui, Prometheus, Supershooter nozzle.
Below is the difference between a Marui Nozzle and an aftermarket "O" type nozzle. The Marui nozzle allows air to be drawn in around the bb on the backstroke, and also through the hole in the cylinder window when ported cylinders are used.
The Aftermarket "O" type nozzle on the backstroke completely blocks the intake and relies on the intake air to be primarily drawn in through the back side of a posrted piston head.
Use of an "O" type nozzle, Non ported cylinder and non ported piston head will not function correctly due to vacuum on the intake stroke, you would severely stress the motor and geartrain, FPS would be almost certainly more than halved.
