Bladed Li-Pos?
2 May, 2010, 21:20
Can you obtain 2-Cell Li-Pos which
aren't
taped together i.e. separate packs/blades?
I want to avoid having to rear-wire my HK416 and even a small 7.4v IP one isn't going to fit in the RIS.
Can I open one up and 'split' the packs - or is nuclear doom imminent?

Re: Bladed Li-Pos?
aye you can open them up and jigger baout with the cells no bother so long as you dont short circuit. or you could buy some single cell, 3.7 packs and make your own battery, or, if you can fit them perhaps stick type lipos batterys>? they are very narrow and long, i can fit a parrallel pack of two 1400 mah ones (so a 2800 mah

) into a g36k handguard...?

Re: Bladed Li-Pos?
Just had a look and at the opposite end to the wires it's joined together by what looks like some kind of metallic (soldered?) pad... if i break that, it'll break the contacts.
Any ideas?

Re: Bladed Li-Pos?
I don't know if I'm on the right lines here, but would a nunchuck style 7.4v lipo work?

I guess that's what I'm after but I've never seen them in 7.4v flavour.

Re: Bladed Li-Pos?
i havent looked for a nunchack i just made one my self by putting two in parrallel to givve me a 7.4v 2800 mah battery.
um yeah if you break that tab it could short it if you try to put it back on, you should be able to disconnect the packs though, um i recall a vid a while back advertising kong power batteries (and whoring the safety like they inverted it and it wasnt law) and taing them apart.
it might be cleaner to go nunchuck or make a pack up out of individual cells thou.
oh and if your taking the pack apart now its handyer to have it on the more discharged side of things as then ay short circuits wont have as much current flowing through an arc.
oh on a side note ive deliberatly shorted out my 7.4 packs before and dropped them below minimum voltage to test the quality of the packs and charger, still going strong and i didnt open a black hole to suck up the planet :p

Re: Bladed Li-Pos?
Panoptes, if you don't get anything back from CS, then drop me a pm as I've just noticed a HK retailer who's doing a 7.4v 20C 1200mAh lipo nunchuck style.
