G&G GC16 30th Anniversary Edition upgrades
10 August, 2015, 17:11
Hi all,
I currently own a G&G GC16 MOD 0 30th anniversary edition, and I am looking to upgrade it.
The only upgrade/mod I have added is a 190mm barrel extension/mock suppressor.
Here lies the first issue/question which I need your help with, I am looking to upgrade the barrel, and wondered whether you would recommend going absolutely as long as possible inside the suppressor, or whether you would just recommend adding another 40/50mm's on and leaving space at the end? This is what I am currently looking at:
http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/produc...oducts_id=2997
Also, if I am to replace the current barrel, I am considering changing the Hop set up to. I was wondering what a recommendation would be for this too, I was thinking something like:
http://www.zerooneairsoft.com/produc...oducts_id=9205
All the TM hop units look very different to the one outlined on the G&G website.
I am not sure if this is the best place on the forum, but thought tech support is the best and safety bet to get the guys with the best knowledge.
Thanks very much.
In summary because it looks confusing when proof reading: 1) should I go for as long barrel as possible? 2) any specific recommendations on barrels for a G&G GC16 at around 500mm? 3) Are G&G GC16 hop units the same as most other brands? and finally 4) any recommendations on hop units too? (Metal / plastic / brand / style)
Cheers
Andy

Re: G&G GC16 30th Anniversary Edition upgrades
1) it is not necessary, iirc, sth like 455 was optimal, however i think this optimal barrel length has an inverse relationship with bb weight due to more time being in the barrel. The general consensus is to not get caught up on barrel length it really doesnt matter that much.
2) in theory steel barrels are best, and is a wider bore, i think a gap of 0.08 between bb size and ID of barrel has been thrown around a lot, but consistency is the most important thing. Brands like PDI, prometheus, madbull steel etc are good, thought the budget ZCI ones are also meant to be good
3) unsure
4) if it works no need to change it
spend your money on something else

Cool, Thanks. In your opinion then, for 4) what would you recommend spending my money on to make the biggest improvements? Better motor? The spread is just a little wider than i'd like and I get outranged quite often from similar weapons.

Hop is what you want to be upgrading. Maybe a ProWin hop chamber and Firefly rubber, although someone with more knowledge could probably recommend something better
