  • VFC PDW - motor getting hot after just one mid-cap?

    Hello

Im new to the forum and airsoft, so please go easy if Im making any newbs errors here.

I've just bought a new VFC PDW - I believe the shop I bought it from did something to it right out of the box to downgrade the FPS - although I'm not sure. Its running at about 290 FPS with .2gr BB's - which is well within our site limits.

So after putting just one mid-cap, 120 rds, through the gun, I notice the grip gets hot - after another mid-cap, this time on full auto, the grip got very hot.

Its running an 11.1 Lipo 1300mah

Any advice on whether this is normal, or if not, what the issue might be?

Im going to take it back into the shop at the weekend and see what they say - just wanted some advice before I do.

Thanks for your help in advance,

    1) If totally unsure, ring the shop you bought it from and return it.

    2) Check that Standard VFC internals can cope with 11.1V lipo

    3) Take off the bottom plate on the grip, make sure both wires are behind the motor, as it could pushing it to the wrong angle.

      Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure exactly how things should be, but I took a snap shot.

As stated, will be taking it back to the shop for professional assistance.

      Thanks

They look like there at the side, they need to both run to the rear of the pistol grip. P1040980WireRouting_sVFCM4.jpg

          Thank for the reply.

I am struggling to get the positive wire to the rear of the grip - the positive and neg come from the front and rear, and the positive doesnt seem to want to go back there.

Am I doing something wrong - or is it ok for the positive to go at the front, and negative at the rear, so long as neither are jammed in at the sides?

          Thanks - appreciate the advice

The wires are like that on a vfc pdw,for starters you should not be running it on 11.1 lipo, either the motor height Is too high or they messed up the shimming when it was opened up

              Thans, for the reply.

So there is no issue with the wires?

As for the lipo I had no idea, that's just the battery they sold it with.

Best if I take it back and just ask them to sort it out then.

              Thanks for your advice

No the wires are fine, and when you get back to the shop don't let them fob you off with stuff like it's designed to take 11.1, no gun should run on 11.1 unless it has a mosfet of some kind to protect the wiring, and even I have a high spec mosfet in my pdw and I still run it on 7.4

Actually looking at the picture again your wires could be placed differently, there are two channels in the grips floor one for each wire, they should sit in them, you can tell if your motor is sitting properly if it slides in easily, it springs up and down without getting stuck and you can pull it out easily too

yes I agree with Sparrowhawk, run on a 7.4 lipo and check your shimming as if its over shimmed then it will causing your motor to overwork.
